Significance of State

As a swing state with 29 electoral votes, Florida is long considered essential to capturing the presidency. Currently, Republicans hold one more congressional seat than Democrats. However, Republicans have lost five seats between 2016 and 2018, giving hope for a blue wave across the state.

Cindy Banyai ~ U.S. House, District 19

Cindy Banyai is running to replace Republican Francis Rooney, who is not seeking re-election. She faces opponents from both parties. This district is solid/safely Republican.

Dana Cottrell ~ U.S. House, District 11

Dana is running to represent U.S. Congressional District 11. She won her party's nomination and will compete in November. She will challenge incumbent Republican Daniel Webster. She ran against Webster in 2018.

Deb Wasserman Schultz ~ U.S. House, District 23

Debbie is the current sitting incumbent and has represented Florida’s 23rd district since 2004. In the Aug 18th Primary, she faces Jen Perelman. If she wins the Party nomination, she will face one of several Republican challengers in this solid/safe Democratic district.

Debbie Mucarsel-Powell ~ U.S. House, District 26

Debbie flipped FL-26 blue in 2018 when she defeated Republican incumbent Carlos Curbelo. She now faces two Republican challengers in this lean/likely Democratic district. This election is a battleground race.

Donna Deegan ~ U.S. House, District 4

Donna is challenging Republican incumbent John Rutherford in this solid/safe Republican district.

Donna Shalala ~ U.S. House, District 27

Donna flipped FL-27 blue in 2018 when she defeated Republican Maria Elvira Salazar as they competed for the seat vacated by Ileana Ros-Lehtinen. She now faces several Republican challengers in this likely/Solid Democratic district. This election is a battleground race.

Frederica Wilson ~ U.S. House, District 24

Frederica has been serving Florida in Congress since 2011. She faces Republican challenger Lavern Spicer in this solid/safe Democratic district.

Kathy Castor ~ U.S. House, District 14

Kathy has been representing Florida in Congress since 2007. She faces two Republican challengers in this solid/ safe Democratic district.

Kimberly Walker ~ U.S. House, District 12

Kimberly is challenging Republican incumbent Gus M. Bilirakis in this solid/ safe Republican district.

Lois Frankel ~ U.S. House, District 21

Lois has been representing Florida in Congress since 2013. She faces several Republican challengers in this solid/safe Democratic district.

Margaret Good ~ U.S. House, District 16

Margaret is challenging Republican incumbent Vern Buchanan in this likely/ solid Republican district.

Pam Keith ~ U.S. House, District 18

Pam is running against Republican incumbent Brian Mast in the general election. In 2018, Mast won the election with 54.3% of the vote, so this will be a highly competitive race.

Stephanie Murphy ~ U.S. House, District 7

Stephanie flipped FL-7 blue in 2016 when she defeated Republican incumbent John Mica. She now faces two Republican challengers in this solid/safe Democratic district.

Val Demings ~ U.S. House, District 10

Val flipped FL-10 blue in 2016 when she defeated Republican Thuy Lowe to replace the vacancy left by Republican Daniel Webster. She now faces two Republican challengers in this solid/ safe Democratic district.
