Lucy worked for Delta Airlines as a flight attendant for 30 years. After her 17-year-old son, Jordan, was shot and killed, Lucy became an activist for gun safety in order to prevent other families from the same tragedy she experienced. She has been the national spokesperson and faith and outreach leader for Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action. Lucy serves on the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force in Congress (as well as the Committee on Judiciary). As a two-time breast cancer survivor, Lucy is also fighting to cover those with preexisting conditions and increase accessibility to healthcare.

Lucy is committed to expanding affordable health insurance, reducing the cost of prescription drugs, and protecting those with preexisting conditions. She and her colleagues introduced the Protecting Pre-Existing Conditions & Making Health Care More Affordable Act in 2019. This bill includes reversing funding cuts to ACA education, marketing, and outreach efforts.

Lucy is a strong supporter of addressing climate change and securing a sustainable energy future. She will increase investment in sustainable energy and increase subsidies for homeowners who utilize solar or other forms of renewable energy.
Plans for Economy
Lucy supports measures to strengthen the middle class and reduce taxes on small businesses. She is committed to fighting economic measures that exacerbate wealth inequality and burden our children with debt.
Lucy is on the Committee on Education and Labor. In this rolee, she fights to make sure our education system works for all students and that teachers have the resources they need. She supports expanding access to higher education, fully funding public schools, and making community colleges and vocational schools more affordable.
