Nikema Williams ~ U.S. House, District 5

Nikema Williams currently serves as a member of the Georgia State Senate for District 39. In 2007, she was elected Chair of the 13th Congressional District for The Democratic Party of Georgia. Upon election, she became the youngest Congressional District Chair and the first Black woman ever elected in the state. She is also a member of the influential Economic Development and Tourism, Retirement, MARTOC, State and Local Government Operations, Urban Affairs, and Special Judiciary committees. Recently, Nikema was selected to replace State Representative John Lewis who passed away on July 17, 2020. In the past, she was Vice-President of Public Policy for Planned Parenthood Southeast, Inc where she fiercely advocated for women’s reproductive rights. Nikema has also been recognized as one of Georgia Trend Magazine’s 100 Most Influential Georgians, among many other honors and recognitions.
