Jeannine is an Indiana native who has lived in the 6th District for over 30 years. She is running for Congress to fight for progress and be a voice for her community. She currently serves on the boards of multiple community organizations, and she hopes to fight for progress “for our prosperity and health, our civil rights and civil liberties, and our security.”
On healthcare . . .
“I will fight to institute universal healthcare nationwide, as I believe all Americans have a right to access quality healthcare. Health insurance coverage is a fundamental right for all Americans... I plan to work towards creating a single-payer health care plan that would provide Medicare for All from cradle to grave. Creating a public option will ensure that all receive a basic level of coverage.” “I will also oppose Republican actions that seek to privatize healthcare or make the process of obtaining Medicaid unnecessarily complex in an attempt to block everyday Americans from their right to healthcare.”
On the environment . . .
“I will fight for legislation that reduces the harmful effects of fossil fuels on the citizens of Indiana and promotes sustainable living.” “The increased use of renewable fuels will not only help the environment but will aid farmers as they will profit from the use of ethanol.”
Plans for Economy
“I support an increase to the federal minimum wage by increasing it to $10 nationwide… Accomplishing this would make progress towards shrinking the inequality gap in our society.” “...I believe in prioritizing the needs of America’s, and Indiana’s, economy by fighting to keep manufacturing jobs close to home and work to build our own infrastructure.” “ I believe we should efficiently take advantage of federal money received to make the most feasible improvements to our state’s infrastructure.” “Modernizing the 6th District should be a priority so Indiana can move into the future and increase our competitiveness with other states… In order to accomplish this, I support increasing the federal gas tax from 18 cents to 20 cents to provide the extra income needed to complete these projects. To provide a better quality of life for Hoosiers, I believe there needs to be investments not only in improving our roads but in upkeeping our sewage systems. The right to clean water is one that belongs to everyone and should continue to be in Indiana’s 6th District.”
“I support creating tuition-free public colleges, so everyone can have the opportunity to pursue higher education.” “I will fight for student loan forgiveness for all college students in Indiana and over the country. If students do take out loans to pay for college, they should be given adequate information to avoid defaulting on them.” “I also support increasing access to community colleges and technical schools. High school students need to be aware of these options and given the resources they need to succeed in ways that differ from the norm of attending a four-year university.”
