Significance of State

As the first state to hold a caucus in the primary election season, Iowa has long held visibility, and is seen as a litmus test for the political leanings of rural voters. As a battleground state, Iowa has the potential to swing the election in the Democrats’ favor.

Abby Finkenauer ~ U.S. House, District 1

Abby flipped IA-1 blue in 2018, when she beat Republican incumbent Rod Blum. She now faces Republican opponent Ashley Hinson. This race is considered a battleground/ toss-up election.

Cindy Axne ~ U.S. House, District 3

Cindy flipped IA-3 Blue in 2018 when she beat Republican incumbent David Young. Cindy faces Republican challengers Bill Schafer and David Young, and Libertarian challenger Bryan Holder. This race is considered a battleground/ toss-up election.

Rita Hart ~ U.S. House, District 2

Rita is running for an open seat in IA-2, hoping to replace soon-to-be retired Democrat Dave Loebsack. She faces Republican opponent Mariannette Miller-Meeks. This race is considered a battleground/toss-up election.

Theresa Greenfield ~ U.S. Senate

Theresa is challenging Republican incumbent Joni Ernst. This election is a battleground race, and considered to “lean” Republican.
