Michelle De La Isla ~ U.S. House, District 2

On healthcare . . .

Michelle believes in ensuring access to quality healthcare for all, and expanding Medicaid so underinsured people are supported.

On the Environment . . .

Michelle is endorsed by the League of Conservation Voters Action Fund. “Last year, farmers in KS-02 were significantly impacted by historic flooding. Our residents – especially our youth – are concerned about carbon emissions and climate change, and are eager for alternative energy solutions. I look forward to working with LCV to advocate for sustainable policies to ensure we have a vibrant planet to enjoy for generations to come.”

Michelle has dedicated her career to helping others. She has had jobs teaching financial literacy, as well as building homes for families at Habitat for Humanity. After serving as an advocate for downtown redevelopment, Michelle successfully ran for City Council and eventually became Mayor of Kansas’s capital city of Topeka. Michelle is a fighter, having grown up in poverty, survived homelessness and domestic violence, beat cancer, and attended college as a single mother. Having personally wrestled with issues many Kansans face, Christy believes she is the candidate who will bring justice to families in Kansas.

Plans for Economy

“I will advocate to ensure every Kansan has access to . . . meaningful jobs to support their families . . . and the roads and bridges needed to move everyone - including our rural communities - safely across our state.”

Education Policy

“I will advocate to ensure every Kansan has access to quality education.” As Mayor, she opened a tech school in one of the most disadvantaged areas of Topeka.
