Gretchen Driskell

Gretchen began her career in accounting, led efforts to build the Saline Recreation Complex, a gathering place for families, and eventually became a commercial real estate agent. Gretchen served six years on City Council before becoming Saline’s first female Mayor. She served in this position for 14 years, where she improved local schools and attracted new ventures to diversify Saline’s economy. Gretchen will fight for transparency in government, diversified job markets with high-tech and green jobs, and Medicaid expansion.

Plans for the economy

Gretchen will fight to bring good paying jobs with benefits and paid sick leave to our hometowns. We need to support job growth by helping small businesses and diversifying our job market with high-tech and green jobs. She will fight to rebuild our communities with high speed internet, fixed roads, bridges, and water and sewage systems.

Education Policy

Geretchen will fight for universal preschool and to support the trades. She will support affordable access to college by protecting the at-risk public sector student loan payoff program, implementing a year of free community college, and enhancing the Pell Grant program.
