Significance of State

Minnesota has a history of liberal politics, but has recently been characterized as a swing state, given Trump lost Minnesota by only 1.5 percent. It is crucial that Democrats re-solidify support in Minnesota, a state that is now on the Trump re-election campaign wish list.

Tina Smith ~ U.S. Senate

Tina was appointed to fill this Senate Seat vacated by Democratic Senator Al Franked in 2018. She won the special election to fill the remainder of his term. She now faces several Republican challengers. This race is likely/solid Democratic.

Angie Craig ~ U.S. House, District 2

Angie flipped MN-2 blue in 2018 when she beat Republican incumbent Jason Lewis. She now faces several Republican challengers. This election is considered a battleground/lean Democrat race.

Ilhan Omar ~ U.S. House, District 5

Ilhan has been serving Minnesota’s 5th district since her election in 2018. MN-5 is considered a solid/safe Democratic district. Ilhan faces challengers from both parties.

Tawnja Zahradka ~ U.S. House, District 6

Tawnja is challenging Republican incumbent Tom Emmer in this safe/solid Republican district. Also in this race is Ian Todd (D) and Nikolay Bey (Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labo Party).

Quinn Nystrom ~ U.S. House, District 8

Quinn Nystrom, among other Democrats, is challenging Republican incumbent Pete Stauber in this likely/solid Republican district.
