Significance of State

"Since 1972, the state has voted Republican, except for 1976 when it supported Jimmy Carter of Georgia. Unlike many other southern states, Mississippi has not experienced great population growth. In 2016, Donald Trump easily won the state by 58% to Hillary Clinton's 40%."

Antonia Eliason ~ U.S. House, District 1

Antonia Eliason is running to represent Mississippi's 1st District. In November, she'll face incumbent Republican Trent Kelly in this deeply red district. Kelly has held this seat since 2015. Kelly has voted with President Trump 95.4% of the time.

Dorothy Benford ~ U.S. House, District 3

Dorothy "Dot" Benford is a running to represent the 3rd District. She won the Democratic Primary on March 10. She will run against incumbent Republican Michael Guest. Guest has voted to support Trump Administration positions 97.5% of the time.
